Find Nancy on:
Nan Zander is a mother, cook, gardener, sustainability coach and the owner of All Cooped Up, makers of the Front Yard Coop and other products for the backyard farmer. She is currently working on a venison cookbook with her husband of 26 years, the lifestyle photographer Peter Zander, who happily provides her with their yearly cache of venison. Their children are both passionate locavores involved in various ways in sustainable farming and food. Nan believes that people would find more meaning in their life if they were more connected to the world around them. In a world of store-bought, ready-made, generic, take-out, national chain, industrial, electronic, digital everything, the Front Yard Coop is just one way to help people connect to the land and to the food they eat. When she is not giving a workshop, setting up at a farmers market, cleaning the chickens' coop or baking with their eggs, she can be found teaching for Dancing Classrooms, a program that teaches social development through ballroom dancing.
